All I knew by the end of the summer of 1979 having just graduated from high school, is that I wanted whatever my mom had.

My dad decided to leave their 21-year marriage and move to Las Vegas to pursue his gambling addiction, leaving my mom with nothing but bills. She was a ‘functioning’ alcoholic at the time, and literally had no idea how she was going to make ends meet.

She was ‘randomly’ invited to a mid-week Bible study, and after going a few times she became born again. When she told me what happened I had no clue what that even meant. I didn’t have any Christian friends and I had never opened a Bible.

However, what I saw first hand changed everything for me and for my future. Mom was delivered from alcoholism, she had a perfect sense of peace that made absolutely no sense to me considering her dire circumstances, and she literally was a completely new and transformed person.

That was 45-years ago when I surrendered ownership of my life to Jesus having experienced the truth of what happens when someone says “Yes” to Jesus and having their sins wiped away and forgiven.
